The developer's first scheme boxed the columns in plasterboard. We proposed conservation instead, priced it against the cladding package, and it came in under — because the columns needed consolidation, not replacement.
Twelve scagliola columns were cleaned with a conservation-grade poultice, filled with a reversible resin, and repolished to a full gloss. The colour reinstatement was signed off by the conservation officer on first inspection.
The banking hall ceiling was surveyed with photogrammetry, its lost enrichments cast from a surviving bay, and 71 units installed across four weeks.
